Luxury car manufacturer, Rolls-Royce, has introduced a stunning convertible version of the Dawn designed for the 2017 market.
The vehicle was unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
The appeal and aura of the super car’s exterior and interior are said to be awe-inspiring.
Rolls-Royce never disappoints in its
offerings and similarly, the new “Dawn’ will be an epitome of luxury to
those who can afford it, says an online auto journal, Nicecarsinfo.com, in its review of the car. The price is given as $250,000, excluding freight/shipping cost and import duty.
“The vehicle has the all familiar
Rolls-Royce shape and features, dynamic lines and a stylish smooth
surface that oozes power and dominance,” says Nicecarsinfo.com.
Exterior
Although some auto reviewers say the
2017 Rolls-Royce Dawn cuts the look of its sibling Wraith with the
exception of the retractable roof, the car manufacturer insists that the
body is 80 per cent new.
The automaker says the new Dawn’s two
door convertible has a length of 208.07 inches, 76.65 inches width and a
height of 59.13 inches. It has a wheelbase of 122.51 inches.
The vehicle’s roof is said to retract in only 21 seconds at speeds of up to 30mph.
According to nicecarinfo.com, the Dawn
borrows some features from the Wraith including the rear-hinged side
doors and a squared-off front chrome grille though it has been recessed
by 1.7 inches.
“On the back, it features an upright rear end and triangular-shaped headlights similar to the Wraith” it says.
Interior
The new Dawn convertible has cosy
interior. The reviewer say this is graceful and highly stylish and about
the best one can get in any convertible in the world now.
The new Dawn 2017 is built for four passengers with a boot volume of between 244 and 295 litres.
“The interior is very quiet and might be
the quietest convertible in the world. This is courtesy of the
automaker’s efforts to hook the car with an excellent aerodynamic
profile. Also, the cloth top of the roof is heavily insulated and is
lowered or raised gracefully by very quiet mechanical system.
“Seats are upholstered in rich leather while the whole console features book-matched wood accents,” the report says.
Dashboard
Its dash and the instruments cluster
feature unique polishing and mate metal finish. It is hooked with an
advanced Multimedia Interface and navigation system that comes with a
10.25 HD navigation screen and the Spirit of Ecstasy rotary controller
that has a gesture-sensitive touchpad.
Safety
The 2017 Rolls-Royce Dawn is equipped
with front, side-impact and side-curtain airbags for all passengers and
additional knee airbags for the driver and front passenger.
It also other safety features such as
Rolls-Royce Assist, ABS and a roll-over protection system that deploys
from the rear head restraint.
It has a heat detection system that detects humans and animals and proceeds to issue an audible warning.
Engine
The new 2017 Rolls-Royce Dawn comes with
a powerful engine. Specifically, it has a 6.6-litre engine with V-12
unit similar to the one used by the Wraith.
In terms of performance, the unit
produces 563hp and 575lb-ft of torque. Power is channelled to all wheels
by a ZF- built 8-speed automatic transmission system.
The report says the power-train pushes
the Dawn from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds and though it is slower than the
Wraith, this is pretty fast considering the Dawn’s 5,644 pounds body
mass. It will achieve a top speed of 155 mph.
“The engine returns 13.2 mpg for city,
38.8 mpg on highway and 19.9 mpg combined fuel economy. It also has a
330g/km CO2 emission rating,” it adds.
Speaking on the design, the Rolls
Director of Design, Giles Taylor, says the aim was not just to design a
beautiful motor car, it is envisioned to make the occupants look like
rock stars.
Rolls says the name of this new convertible symbolises the start of a significant new era.
This is coming at a time thever
Rolls-Royce Phantom production is winding down after 13 years – its
replacement is not due until 2018.
